Overview of Costing for
Beach Project
Phase 1 includes the
first reef and trucking sand
for a limited stretch of
beach but excludes the
purchase of capital
equipment. Phase 2 includes
the planned remaining three
reefs and the purchase of a
dredge and slurry pipeline
in order to renourish the
beach on an on-going basis.

Note:
The above estimates will
vary depending on timing. In
the event of major delays it
is anticipated that these
will add significantly to
project costs over the
period through to 2012,
mainly due to inflation
linked increases in all
areas of the project.
In addition, it will be
necessary to purchase a
dredge and install a slurry
pipeline as the costs of
contract dredging are
significantly more than
those shown above (in the
ratio of 4:1). The purchase
of the necessary capital
equipment has also been
included in Phase 2. For the
purpose of this exercise the
on-going sand pumping costs
are also included under
Operating Costs for years
2009–2012.
